Sharon Shoesmith dismissal ruling: High Court statement; Sharon Shoesmith statament to press outside court SOT - I'm very relived to have won my appeal and for recognition that I was treated unfairly and unlawfully/ I've spent a lifetime caring, protecting and educating children/ My sorrow at death of Peter Connelly will stay with me for rest of life/ As judges have said, making a public sacrifice of an individual would not prevent further tragedies / I am grateful for support of family, two daughters and many individuals all over country/ I want to give special thanks to former colleagues including Directors of Children's Services up and down country, and to Head Teachers of Haringey for public and private support - People up and down country are doing best to protect children/ Social workers do an often thankless task in difficult circumstances, we all need to understand their task a little more/ Want to thank legal team for enduring support and skill Sharon Shoesmith talking to press reporters outside court SOT - Its been long and arduous/ These guys gave me a lot of strength/ I've a lot to say about Ed Balls, just not now / I'd love to go back to work - Was dedicated to my job but that's not possible/ Hope to carry on career with children if possible Shoesmith and lawyers back towards court/ Sharon Shoesmith photocall standing on steps of High Court/ Shoesmith and legal team back into High Court
