Senator Grassley critiques Chinese authoritative capitalism competing with United States

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says that a recent trip to China was an eye-opener, hearing a lot that China embraces capitalism but not to believe it because the Communist Party serves the interests of the state and not of the people, admitting their economic socialism was authoritative capitalism. Grassley says visiting with government officials who knew their talking points almost too well his impression was that the Chinese government would do anything legal or illegal to get ahead of the United States, that its slogan had changed from peaceful rise to peaceful development out of concern it sounded threatening but to be clear he was not threatened by Chinese economic growth because democracies generally do not threaten each other and free enterprise is mutually beneficial, a very good new story also good for the United States.
