SHENYANG, CHINA: A young college student threatens to jump from the window of her dormitories in Shenyang, northeastern China's Liaoning province 04 June 2005, after failing her examinations, but was later coaxed down by her parents. Among 6,000 surveyed teenagers recently, about the pressure to get good grades and enter university, 34.4 percent complained they did not get enough sleep, while 32.7 percent said they "severely lacked" the necessary rest, complaining being crushed by a mountain of homework assigned by an increasingly competitive educational system.
