Ozage Gencay–Ustun uses Japanese Mulberry fiber paper and a wheat starch paste to repair and hold the basket together. The japanese fmulberry fibers a compatable with the basket fibers. After teh basket is complete, the fiber willbe painted to match the baskets color and blend in flawlessly. There is a mammoth conservation project at the Southwest Museum's historic building and collections of Native American art. The objects have been moved out of storage in the tower to galleries where they are being catalogued, bar–coded, photographed, restored and housed in protective structures.
