(Santa Ana)–Alejandro Avila stares forward while the court reads the recommendation from the jury that he should receive the death penalty in the murder, kidnapping and sexual assault of 5–year–old Samantha Runnion. The Orange County Superior Court jury took seven hours over two days before making their recommendation. Avila will be formally sentenced by the court on July 22.
