Stages in the manufacture of Edison’s Phonograph Dolls (Thomas Edison’s Talking Dolls) in the USA. The doll was invented by Thomas Edison in 1877 and, though it was a remarkable innovation, it was a commercial failure and was only on sale for a few weeks in 1890.
